WDM — Free Open-Source Download Manager for Windows
Free, open-source multi-connection download manager for Windows with pause/resume, queues, scheduling, speed limits and Chrome/Edge/Brave/Firefox integration.
- 1 min read

What it does
WDM splits a file across up to 32 connections, resumes interrupted downloads, and takes over browser downloads through a small extension. Built on .NET 10 and WPF, MIT-licensed, with no telemetry.
- Multi-connection engine: dynamic segmentation, direct-to-disk writes, checkpointed resume with ETag / Last-Modified validation.
- Queue and scheduler: start/stop times, automatic retry of failed items, optional shutdown when the queue finishes.
- Speed limiter: one limit shared by all downloads.
- Browser integration: Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox extension; takes over a download only after WDM confirms it.
- Batch and site grabber: paste or drop many links, or pull links from a page; video-site pages are handled through yt-dlp.
- Command line:
Wdm.Cli.exe <url>for scripting.
Get it
Download the installer (about 100 MB, self-contained) or the browser extension from the GitHub release, and verify it against the published SHA-256 checksums. Source code and build instructions are in the repository. Requires Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). Version 1.0.0 is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show an “unknown publisher” warning.
